The FM-12 base is CNC machined from a solid piece of high tensile strength  T6061 aluminum 1.750 thick  with all tolerances held to within .001"unmatched accuracy.

Stainless steel shafts, four running clockwise and four running counter-clockwise,

Velcro "quick-change" backing pads are fastened on by just one stainless socket head cap screw so changing a damaged pad is a one minute job.

How We Got Here!

For finishing Hard surfaces, industry professional finishers and manufacturers favor the planetary-orbital system. Tests reveal this method to have limited effect on concrete and virtually none on terrazzo. Numerous attempts with variations on this concept failed to yield any significant break-through. This required a radically different approach be taken.

A major break-through was achieved in 1998. I.S.S discovered that a permanently fixed eight head design concept was the answer. Our first proto-type though crude  was effective. Here is what we accomplished.

Removal of Lippage (that annoying high spot). Even from stone tile with very little effort.

Zero clearance to wall and flat surfaces with virtually no damage

Extensive research has shown that resin and ceramic-based diamonds run optimum between 800 to 1100 rpm.  Any higher velocity will result in excess water spray and problematic heat buildup, resulting in surface discoloration, swirl marks and reduced pad life. Maintaining a speed of approximately 800 rpm, allows the machine to work in its own slurry, reducing considerably the need for large volumes of water.

The Flatmaster-12 also doubles as a countertop unit that is perfect for boardroom conference tables, kitchen countertops and islands. Each week we receive suggestions on new uses for the FM-12.

Whether doing residential and commercial contracts without a doubt, the FM-12 is the machine of choice. At a starting weight of 125lbs, an average sized man can transport this machine with ease.

Some applications do require higher surface pressure. Specially designed weights can be added to the machine’s footprint which can increase its total weight to approximately 300lbs. The Flatmaster-12 is not a toy.

The Flatmaster has proven itself on three continents, and continues to receive worldwide acclaim as the future of stone finishing.
